Off to Shanghai

This is the last shot I took with my Palm before I realized the battery was going to kick it. It lasted two more days, so only three days into a seven day journey. Though I was quite impressed that despite falling to emergency power, it retained all my info and I didn't have to reload it.

Dim Sum in Hong Kong

It's always a treat to do Dim Sum on a Sunday morning. But this was a real treat because it was in Hong Kong. LM asked me to help her on her business trip so I came along for a seven day trip to Hong Kong and Shanghai. My batteries died quickly on my palm so I didn't take many shots with this cam, but I did with my good camera. I'll repost when I have the shots up online. Anyway, being in Hong Kong felt a lot like an extended extended extended NYC Chinatown, but with more neon signs, and the buildings closer on the sidewalk. Of course, we didn't leave Kowloons and only really hit a few neighborhoods.

Back to Bryant Park

I love passing through Bryant Park. One of the best things when the weather is nice. This day a group of Native Americans were up on the stage talking about their culture, then and now. Trying to dispell some myths and urban legends I suppose. All I remember is that it was beastly hot that day. Must have been 100 degrees in the sun.

With Paul & Claire

Hanging out that night with Paul (co-worker (or well, since i'm publishing this post nearly 2 months later, now a former co-worker)) and his friend from high school, Claire. She was just featured in some show called "Hooking Up" and as apparently the only rational one of the lot. We hung on the roof that night. I can't remember what else we did. Must have been a fun night.

Summer Rooftop Parties

These kinds of parties are the reason NYC is NYC. This was a tournament for a soccer league. They had free beer and Brother Jimmy's BBQ for the participants and fans, plus DJ's spinning all day. It was on the roof of a parking garage on the Hudson River. The shot below is looking south to Battery Park City.

David Acting Serious

"Get a shot of me for your blog being serious"

Too posed, too fake, let's try again

"What? That was perfect. Alright, fine"

"Dude, I'm going to be serious this time. Get ready"

...

Perfect

Trees as Luxury

Only in NYC would trees be a luxury. But on a muggy Friday night we wanted to eat outside, enjoy the weather, and sit under the trees. Barolo is our old SoHo standby with a beautiful garden out back. They don't rush you in and out, you take your time, enjoy your meal, and finish at your leisure. I think we were there for well over 2 and a half hours.

Word of Thanks

This morning NYC2012 and New York City lost the bid to bring the Olympics to New York. It's too bad. That would have been one heck of an event. Hopefully they will reconsider for a future date

Dance, Ezra, Dance

At Triple Crown in Brooklyn

El Parador Cafe

Went with the kungfu crew after Saturday workout to have some chorizo and tequila. Not your typical post-workout affair, but this was some damn good tequila: top shelf, served in a snifter, sipping tequila. Gran Centenario Tequila I believe it was.

We went to a great little place, El Parador Cafe

Rainy Manhattan Day

Heading home Friday after a long week at work then being at kungfu late on a Friday night. I actually fell asleep in the warm-up area for an hour at the school. This was 41st St between 8th & 9th Aves
