God Bless ThinkPads

It just wouldn't be my particular flavor of geek blog without some pics of my ThinkPads. I won't even get into how I ended up with four different ThinkPads at once, but here they are.
They are, clockwise from upper left, T42 (2005), 600e (1999), X23 (2003), X22 (2002). I resold the X's the following day, am giving away the 600e (it has served me well for 6 years) and currently crank on the T.
It was an image for posterity's sake.

Ave A Farmer's Market

A beautiful autumn day down in Alphabet City.
I stopped off for some cider and to snap some pics.
And to get a bite at Lucky Burger.

Brooklyn Bar

Some random Brooklyn bar, late at night.
Good times.

Flushing Chinatown

I was out at the Flushing Queens Chinatown for a performance. It always amazes me that there are two distinct, large communities in New York City that exist entirely for one cultural group. The chinatowns are so homogenous that one can be born, raised, and live entirely within their confines knowing and speaking only cantonese. Of course that does not happen to most, this is NYC, but there are still entire blocks where the only things in english are the street signs.

Heading Home

Great week of training, but time to hit the road and get back to NYC. Philadelphia's 30th St Station is a spectacular train station. I sat and took it all in a minute before heading to my gate.

Out for Drinks (What Else?)

What else are a group of 42 people going to do after a long day of training? Why have some pints at the local pub. I did refrain from karaokeing, which is the best thing for everyone but especially the audience.

Enroute to Training in Philadelphia

Waiting anxiously in Penn Station for the gate to be announced for my train. It's a shame Penn Station is such a dreary place. It is such a contrast to Grand Central. Even Philadelphia's 30th St station has all the grandeur of a classical train station. Lowly Penn Station has all the grandeur of a bus station.

Finally on board and enroute

Black Umbrellas

The throngs of people on the sidewalk turns to a sea of black umbrellas when the rain comes. It has been raining for five days and only expected to let up over the weekend. This is Penn Station in the rain.

Central Park Sunday

Sheep's Meadow. It's like a beach without the water. Frisbee, sunbathers, and people. This was probably the last day to enjoy the sun in the park.

Chained

The crazy stuff people have chained on the street cracks me up. Normally I'm looking for broken bikes, but these I couldn't resist. A little red wagon!! Come on! That's so classic NYC.

After the wagon I thought I had seen it all, but lo! on the next block somone chains a shopping cart. awesome.

Worldwide Plaza (Again)

Spending the first of October enjoying the bright sun and still warm weather in my favorite weekend spot, the Worldwide Plaza.
