Fixing the ThinkPad

I love ThinkPads. Incredible machines. Always only ever bought ThinkPads. My baby right now is a swank little T42 and I'll be damned if it didn't just up and die on me one night! I was crushed. But by the next day it was working fine... long story short... this is the place on 45th St where I took it to be repaired, still under warranty thank you, and stood and waited while they changed out the mainboard (had a short).

Exciting life I lead, I know.

The new place

Here is part of the new place. I miss Hell's Kitchen, especially being so close to Dalton's--they have the best fries ever. But I like living alone and I love my apartment. Come to think of it, the neighborhood is nice. Quiet and nice. Holy smokes, am I getting old? Hate when that happens.

I couldn't figure out the room and how to set it up. All that organizing furniture and stuff. That's what girlfriends are for. Thanks LM! The 8' x 4' computer desk is perfect.

St. Patrick's Day

Anoher March, another St. Patrick's Day, another birthday.
The Guinness in the fridge and Ted...

Actually, it was Ted's mom on the phone. He's not allowed to hang out with me and Paul any more. Paul wants to talk to her, maybe he can convince her.

Hong Kong at night

This is a lousy shot, sorry about that. Hong Kong at night is amazing. There is no regulation for the neon signs that hang over the street. Just sign on top of sign on top of sign. Like people. But with the people, I'm used to that in NYC. The signs hanging over head make it feel even more crowded.

Custom Suits

This was in the changing room of the tailor where we went for our custom suits. I got two suits and six shirts for under $300 USD. Bobby the tailor is all right by me.

Thai version of the Paddy Wagon

Mmy cousin David pointing to where he a) plans to end up tonight, b) plans me for me to end up tonight c) has ended up many a night

Tuk Tuk

David and I went out for a night on the town in crazy Bangkok. We didn't see the truly seedy underside of the world for which Bangkok is famous (or infamous). We opted for a more moderate approach and hit some of the backpacker areas. At one point we took a TukTuk, a three wheel buggy with a bench seat in the back and a roof over head.

Gem Cutting Factory

The trip was for LM to visit some of her factories and work with David on getting things just right. Here they are walking down the alley to the gem cutting factory. From here we left and went to the most spectacular lunch at some hotel.

Bangkok Market

Inside the largest open air market in Bangkok on Saturday we spent the whole morning there and only covered a fraction of the ground. They have sections for beads, food, tshirts, underwear, silks, furniture, animals, you name it. The negotiating is endless and I always walk away feeling like I could have gotten a better deal, but really, why walk away over what amounts to $0.05 USD? The best part about this place was that it wasn't junk, there was a lot of high quality stuff here.

Moving Out

The first piece to come down the stairs and go into the truck. The move went off smoothly. I hired three guys to help me out and together we got it all done in the morning and i was showered and at work in time for my 12:30pm meeting. That night I threw some sheets on my bed, had some restless sleep, then was off to Asia the following day.
