The Last Guinness of Ireland

Out in Doolin, our last day in Ireland, our last pint in Ireland (at least until the airport). It was a great trip, saw a lot of pubs, had a lot of Guinness, and by this point I was seriously slowing down on the Guinness consumption. Until next time, Ireland!

Connor Pass

Up on the pass, heading out of Dingle. Too bad we didn't get this weather yesterday when we were out taking pictures.

Ted Making Friends

This was Ted's buddy at the pub in Dingle. Nothing better after a day of freezing rain than heated political debate.

Dingle

On our day of sightseeing in Dingle of course the weather was a cold driving rain. It was a grey and dreary day but we forged ahead taking pictures anyway.

Next Stop, Kilkenny

Next stop was Kilkenny. Nice little town in more or less the middle of Ireland. We rolled into town, up to the first pub, ordered a round of pints then tried to figure out what we should do next--and where we should stay for the night. It was more of a stop over for the night because we got such a late start leaving that we didn't want to drive through the night. That and what the heck, we just picked it out on the map as our next destination.

Turns out it's a quaint little town, very European feeling. We walked the streets in the rain and ended up having a delicious dinner at Matt the Miller's below

Real Hamburgers

As opposed to fake hamburgers I suppose? We were starved and so actually did stop in here to get a burger. I remember it being the greatest thing I had ever eaten, ever. But then I also remember that I hadn't eaten in about 8 hours.

Temple Bar

We ended up wandering from pub to pub, which is just a smaller version of what we plan on doing for the rest of the week. We turned down one street and thought, wow this looks like a fun place. Turns out it's the Temple Bar district. My irish friend said it's a touristy place where the London girls go for their bachelorette parties. Man he wasn't kidding. There was the party with the beauty pagent sahses, the one with the viking helmets, the bunny ears and tails, and I think there was another one that was all dressed in purple.

Doheny & Nesbit's

A nice place, had three bars inside and even an outdoor smoking area. It's great that they outlawed smoking in bars, it makes such a huge difference by the end of the night. Anyway, nice place. They were flying both the Mayo and the Kerry flags because the two teams were facing off in the Gaelic Football national title match on Sunday

First Pint of Guinness in Ireland

Our trip through Ireland starts in Dublin. This was at Foley's which was just about the only decent place to get food for a couple of miles. We kicked off with a pint of the plain and some grub. We were really expecting something different than what we get in America, but I must say it was not very different, just consistently poured well.
Below is the outside of Foley's to commemerate the occassion

Lunch at Bobby Van's

Took my team to Bobby Van's for a steak lunch today. Nice knife!
