Baxter btwn Canal & Hester

The first Broken Bike pic with my new DROID. I'm up to a 5MP camera now. You'd think I'd be happy about such a huge camera upgrade from my original Palm Zire, but in truth I miss the low-res, grainy pics of the Zire. It had a distinct aesthetic. Maybe I'll pick one up on eBay just for kicks.

5th Broken Bike outside of NYC. This one is down in DC. I was meeting up with my sister, bro-in-law, and their kids.

29th St btwn 2nd & 3rd Ave

At first I thought "maybe this isn't broken, maybe they just took the seat with them." But I doubt they took the seat AND the handlebars. Who knows, maybe they did. But I'm calling this broken until proven otherwise.

Spring Street 6 Train Station

I know this is really hard to see, but if you can make out that semi-round shape in the darkness, that is actually a rim of a tire. Couldn't resist snagging it for the collection.

3rd Ave btwn 37th & 38th St

A plethora of Broken Bikes. Zero sympathy for anyone that locks there bike up to this post.

Silver Spring Metro Station, MD

I went down to DC for a weekend to help my sister and her family move. My brother-in-law was on his way to pick me up at the Silver Spring Metro Station when I noticed this baby. I think this is only my 4th Broken Bike outside of NYC

Park Row & Murray St Ext.

OK OK. It's not technically broken. But I couldn't resist the snow covered bike.

57th St & 7th Ave

Two broken bikes in one of the busiest intersections in the heart of the city. Never ceases to amaze me how people are ripping these to pieces in the middle of all this activity.

Bowery btw Grand & Broome

AH! The new Blackberry Curve takes wonderful pictures!
This blackberry marks the 4th device i've used to capture images for this blog (and my other blog too). Those devices were a Palm Zire 71, Palm Treo 700p, Motorola krzr, and now a RIM Blackberry 8330 Curve.
The Palm Zire will always be my favorite for its grainy low res images. I miss that clunky old thing.
But the new Curve will no doubt serve me well. It even has a built-in flash for night shots down in the village.

Lafayette btw Prince & Spring

Hands down one of my new favorites. It says "STOLEN" in chalk on the sidewalk with arrows pointing to the bike and a chalk outline of a rider on a bike. Of course this is outside of a bike shop at the same location and they probably use it as an extremely effective sales technique to sell some hardcore locking mechanisms. The best part about this shot is that carnage is probably only 1-2 days old. Meaning they left a complete bike semi-chained to the pole out for just 1 night. The results are obvious.

Baxter btw Hester and Canal

The back rim in bent out of shape, though that is difficult to see from this angle.

2nd Ave & St. Mark's Place

I think that's the right location. I took this pic from a cab and didn't record the exact location, but I'm pretty sure that's it.

Orchard btw Houston and Stanton

On my way to a watering hole to catch up with my cousin Maryclaire (she's in the blue dress in the background, everyone wave). LES never fails to disappoint.
